Making Changes: Perfect Evaluations
It has its utility; it has created all the sciences, all the technologies—and all the nuclear weapons, and perhaps is bringing a global suicide soon. They have a lot of enthusiasm. What does that mean? Not only will this simple practice help you feel more connected to others, it will remind you that you, too, are worthy of everyday acknowledgment and kindness. But, of course, there is a dark side. High functioning people, by nature, are typically intellectual and thought-driven. What or who gives me that buoyant sense that I can feel connected again, that there are activities and relationships to look forward to in life? Whatever the answers to those questions are for you, at least one of them belongs on your schedule each and every day. This reference point of wholeness is stored in the chitta of my Bliss body, and my Wisdom body communicates when it's time to practice yoga through a message that sounds something like, Girl, it's time for you to do some yoga. To break this unhelpful obsession with what might have been, I ask my patients to recall the most recent binge, one that's still fresh in their memory. The ability to put feelings aside and get things done helps productivity and even well-being to a certain degree, but Christina does at least need to stay aware of what the feelings are that she's overriding in the first place so that she can remember to get the emotional support she needs. If we're always changing in order to be accepted, we'll never be accepted because the person others will be accepting won't be the true us!
