We believe that our strength lies in our ability to think critically. Then imagine yourself in this person's place, reenacting as closely as possible what this person did so well. My parkrun friends, meanwhile, kept in touch for years after Id last run at Wycombe Rye. It might be beyond what their mind is telling them they are capable of. Though I do find it as easy to overhear mental health conversations when I am in Barrow-in-Furness as I do when Im in south-west London, it is undoubtedly the case that youll find it easier to open up about your mental health if you are a white middle-class woman living in the south of England and working in a reasonably secure career. Watch your own experiences, and what I am saying will be proved valid, because I am not talking ideology here, I am simply talking about facts. When happiness is the only acceptable emotion and we turn our backs on each other when we see someone sad, grieving, or having a hard time, we disconnect from the fullness of our humanity. When you are happy and ecstatic there is no I. When you don't see that your happiness is flowering, you become sad. This is why metacognition is also included in the upcoming list of benefits and examples of mindfulness. You are so afraid of death, you are so afraid of birth, that the very fear prevents you from going into it. If you feel you are intellect oriented, then try meditation. When you solely relate to yourself and build your life around the Physical body, you deny yourself conscious access to your true power. So go on finding out about yourself. And that was just Jim's bag! Just look inside your bag and you will find so many artificial, phony, pseudo things—for what? That would be great news! They invite you to go through a process of transformation. You can practice it formally while sitting in a chair or on a meditation cushion, or while you are lying down to go to sleep. It constantly stores information through chitta, which is like a hard drive that codes and memorizes all our experiences and memories. In European countries including Germany, Austria and Switzerland, some head teachers allow dogs in classrooms as they believe the presence of an animal calms the children down and encourages them not to make so much noise. Can you see the body for what it truly is: a temporary temple and the house of the soul—the house you live in? This is natural. I am up to here in worry and pessimism. It is choking off happiness in my life. I realize the choice is mine. I now choose to see things differently. I don't need rose-colored glasses because everything actually is rosy. And this is so. His whole life he was miserable. I asked him, Have you ever wondered why you are called the head, and not the heart?
