Getting caught up in a habit loop and not paying attention can lead to  the not-very-good combination of freaking out (I cut myself and I see  blood, so it must be pretty bad) and jumping to conclusions (I've hit  an artery). I truly wasn't able to cycle for more than 10 minutes at a time  because of the searing-hot sun.   What is does is warn us  about potential threats and danger.   In Harry Truman's famous words, 'If you can't stand the heat, get  out of the kitchen.' The rules of respect apply in competition just as  the rules of boxing apply in boxing, or of fencing in fencing.   The outside world  couldn't be kept out completely, though.   Have you looked at them honestly?   Be helpful to someone else.   Stress, in a tangible sense, is the experience of the neurochemical  cortisol, firing out of the neurons in our brain and shooting down our  brain stem.
