Broad Views: Concentrate On A Calming Image

The West needs very urgently a great movement of meditation; otherwise this depression is going to kill people. If you accept it you have joy arising in you, if you reject it you have pain, but the reality remains the same. Alexander was a disciple of Aristotle and he was trained by him in fine logic. Your feelings, images, and associations are all triggered at once as you respond, and you know immediately how you really feel on that gut or inner level. You cannot do anything about it. Many of us grew up in homes raised by parent-figures who did not fully understand how to use or maintain their own boundaries, making them unable to model appropriate limits for us. If parent-figures have not healed or even recognized their unresolved traumas, they cannot consciously navigate their own path in life, let alone act as trustworthy guides for someone else. Reasoning will be secondary. You repress energy and that repressed energy creates more trembling inside you, so you feel more nervous; you feel more nervous, you repress more, and so on and so forth, it goes on and on. Again, wait for your answer. When I move it with watchfulness there is a grace and beauty in it, a peacefulness, and a silence. Some people are more visually oriented so they take in most of their information by seeing pictures. Or maybe you have a neighbor or family member who might also be lonely; doing little things to support them and provide them some companionship can go a long way. While the system is not absolutely foolproof—it is, after all, based on subjective feelings, impressions, and beliefs—you can increase your chances for being correct or making the right choice by recognizing the signals.Learning to Trust Your Intuitive PowerYou often get feelings and premonitions that something will happen and they turn out to be correct, but other times you are wrong. There is a beautiful story by Turgenev, The Fool. When you are feeling angry, it is not something partial. All of these coping strategies enable us to avoid repeating or reliving our past trauma, delaying immediate pain. Allow fear, don't fight with it. Notice how far away it seems—like another world. However, after some practice you can visualize these bodily movements in your mind. Your watchfulness should be total. The first thing is to note what comes first and what second. How? And they should not be possessed, because that again destroys your love. As you see it happening, put yourself in the picture. Ultimately, trying to establish one's own validity through the successes of another leads to disappointment on the parent-figure's side. If you mistrust yourself you will project your mistrust on people around you. When you are natural you function harmoniously. It is always involved in something; you never allow it in its purity. The trees exist, the animals exist, the birds exist, but they cannot do anything about their existence; they are part of it. Then once in a while you do something natural, which goes against this unnatural fear, and guilt arises. Start one meditation in the night. But this is the mind of everybody. When we are in social engagement mode, we even look more engaging and friendly. You have to discover it, and the first step toward discovery is to accept yourself, rejoice in being yourself. The bigger the ideal the bigger the hypocrisy. Use this energy of watchfulness for a transformation of your being. You have eyelids to close, to open, but what about your ears? We can make choices about our sleep, nutrition, relationships, and the ways we move our body that all alter gene expression. Or, if you are part of a work group or social group, think of all the things the group can do besides what it is doing now. That's why you cannot trust your feelings and you have always to look to somebody to tell you what to do. It is said that in twelve years Mahavira ate for a total of only one year. The mind knows only questions and the heart knows only answers. Go on slipping from your head to your heart, and then just take a little greater risk and slip from the heart to the being. Don't hate death. Otherwise, if the good-to-go signal is uncertain, such as a warning sign that causes you to waver, then that's when you should wait to check your signal and hold back until you have that clear sign that everything's good to go.In general, you can make better decisions when you have a number of desirable alternatives to choose from. It is nothing to practice. It belongs to the outside world; it follows the outside world and its laws. You just take your consciousness there, unflickering, unwavering. You feel fully in charge. Now, notice others coming up to you or calling to congratulate you. Mind is very tricky, whether it is male or female. Let the trembling be there but tell the night, Do whatever you want to do. Marriage created suspicion. In one posture the mind stops functioning, in another posture you become very alert, and so on. I have studied all the scriptures, my whole life I have devoted in service of knowledge. One would think that an active type must be so tense that he could not relax, but this is not the case. If you believe your loneliness may be tied to chronic low self-esteem, I hope you will both work actively on cultivating self-compassion and developing good-self-care and start seeing a counselor. Get into things where the mind is not needed—for example, dancing. You will feel only darkness and nothing else, and ugly things and all kinds of black holes appearing. ANGER, SADNESS, AND DEPRESSION Branches of the Same Tree Ordinarily, anger is not bad. She has been brought up in such a way that she cannot go out into the world; she has been told from the very beginning that she is weak. Those who have really worked with the mind have worked with watchfulness, witnessing; and as you witness the mind, the mind slowly starts becoming silent, stops its gibberish, becomes calm and quiet. The person who is very violent is always afraid: Other people are so violent and I have to be constantly on guard. To obtain this, press a button to stop the movie and press another to summon your counselor or spirit guide. It doesn't matter. But don't stop there; it is only an overnight stay, a caravanserai. Why should the gods be so interested in distracting him? Beyond the mind, there is an awareness that is not given by the outside, and is not just an idea—and there is no experiment up to now that has found any center in the brain that corresponds to awareness. There may be books and papers, things you have made, or projects you are working on. Then notice the differences in how you feel now and how you felt before. You cannot walk beautifully; somehow you have to carry your legs. If nothing comes, repeat your question or try a different one. Then, with this primary orientation you can concentrate your energy on achieving your purpose. Simply being in the presence of other people—at the grocery store, a coffee shop, worship services, restaurants, libraries, etc.—eases that sense of being alone and disconnected from life. And, of course, when they are underground they are more powerful. In turn, if you think you can, you probably can. These messages frequently start in childhood. Why do you feel your book has been successful? For example, Which do I really feel best about doing? When we do the work, we can change. Notice what the expert is like and say a few words of welcome. And the same is the case with emotion. Something is there; let it be there. The second is, enjoy it. That disappearance is a great experience. Initially a physical action works well since it is more concrete and dramatic.
