FEAR arises to help you focus on the present moment, access your instincts and intuition, and tune in to changes in your immediate environment. Intuition, instincts, focus, clarity, attentiveness, readiness What action should be taken? ANXIETY (or WORRY ) is focused on the future. It arises to help you look ahead and identify the tasks you need to complete and the deadlines you need to meet. Foresight, focus, task completion, procrastination alert! What brought this feeling forward? What truly needs to get done? CONFUSION is a mask for fear and anxiety that arises when you have too much to process all at once. Confusion can give you a much-needed time-out. Soft awareness, spaciness, flexibility, taking a time-out What is my intention? That's when I reminded myself that I wasn't there just to visit. I used some of my time to talk with the nurses, personal support workers, and volunteers who were all part of Mom's care team. This helped me get a better idea of how she was doing on a day-to-day basis and in what ways I could help her. Something as simple as finding out that she needed long socks (her short ones kept falling off during episodes of dyskinesia) made me feel better, as it gave me something specific that I could do to help her. I also was able to speak to her doctor, who agreed to make a medication change (I had discovered that Mom was being given unnecessary pain meds for a fall months earlier), and to her physical therapist about making changes to her wheelchair to make it more comfortable for her. Help the primary caregiver Living far away may mean that you can't personally cover for your loved one's primary caregiver, but you can offer to pay for respite care. This could be at an extended care facility or at your home if your loved one is able to travel. If and when the time comes, don't shy away from agreeing to a decision to have your loved one moved to a residential care facility. Respect the fact that you're not the one providing the day-to-day care and that you don't know how much of a burden the primary caregiver has.
It's worth repeating that each individual needs a unique combination of physical and psychological (that is somatic, emotional, mental, and spiritual) cleansing and repair. Some people move into a higher level purely through diet; While both are optimal for most people, in practice healing on one side or the other may suffice. Have You Reached Your Neurogenic Potential? Is your brain growing? Is your self growing? The two go together. The idea is to repair, rejuvenate, and renew your neurogenic capacity. When your neurogenic rate is high, the brain is moving, growing, renewing. The result is you feel good, clear, and sharp. YOUR WARDROBE OF FRAMES Designer names, seasonal collections, up-to-the-minute trends, and cutting-edge technology: frames are fashion. And just as you have the appropriate shoes, bags, and clothing to wear to work, on weekends, and to a black-tie benefit dinner, shouldn't you have appropriate glasses to wear to each of these as well? The eyewear industry has been trying for years to convince us that we need a wardrobe of glasses. Yes, they're trying to increase sales, but I think they have a point. Obviously, having a wardrobe of glasses makes more sense if you need them all the time. If you need them solely for driving or for going to the movies, well, lucky you; But if you have them on your face all day, every day, you may want to vary your look from time to time. I know, glasses are really expensive. The last time I bought a pair, I walked out with a $1,200 bill.
Once our vibration is restored, Author Unknown The Action Body - Third Layer How people treat you is their karma. How you react is yours. A few months ago, my partner, John, and I were on an extended road trip to celebrate his recent retirement. We were pulling our Airstream, so we were mostly going the speed limit and we'd often end up with a long trail of cars and trucks behind us. Every couple of miles, John would pull over and let all of the vehicles pass without complaint or agitation and I thought, that is so nice and thoughtful of him. At one point, I mentioned what good karma he was creating by doing this, and lo' and behold, that same day, when we had left our trailer at the campground and were humming along in our truck wanting to move a bit faster, we got stuck behind another vehicle that was going the speed limit. But within thirty seconds, that car pulled over and let us pass. In empowering people and teams, you learn new ways of assessing people. The best part is watching employees become associates. It's a lot of fun to 'lead' them occasionally to just a little bit more responsibility than they think they can handle. Then when it turns out you were right and they do handle it, it's great to see the pride in their faces! Marvin paused, thought for a moment, and said, You know, this team thingcorrection, this empowered-team thingcan really be powerful. It's like a basketball team or a volleyball team that plays really well together. The team members' skills are transferable but also unique. They are given a chance to utilize their abilities and to continue to grow and develop. As individuals, they have the chance to become all that they can be and, at the same time, they're helping the organization become all that it can possibly be. It sounds like you've got it, said Billy.
Use people that have what you don't have as a source of inspiration instead of envying them. Comparing makes no sense. You will either feel superior or inferior, and you are neither one. You are unique with your intrinsic strengths and weaknesses just like any other human being on this planet. This is neither good nor bad. It simply is. If you really have a hard time working on this one, maybe you should get off social media for a while. Studies suggest that social media play a major part in the creation of jealousy and envy because we watch other people's highlight reel and compare it to our behind the scenes-movie. That just can't work. If you go to my Facearticle article, you'll see pictures of me working at the beach, having a coffee on the beach, traveling to nice places. I always picture the body tugging at me, saying, Please pay attention! When you discover the mental pattern behind a pain or illness, you have a chance to change the pattern through your mirror work and arrest the dis-ease. Are you willing to pay attention to your body and release the need that has contributed to your pain? If so, get started on your mirror work and learn to love your body and heal your pain. Let's affirm: I love my body. I return my body to optimal health by giving it what it needs on every level. Your Day 10 Mirror Work Exercise Choose the pain or illness you would like to work on today. Let's say it's heartburn. Stand or sit in front of your mirror.
You will wake up feeling motivated and goal-oriented. In the short run, you will notice an improvement in your efficiency. Over time, you will realize that you're more effective than ever before since there is more that you can do in less time. Enhanced Emotional Intelligence There are numerous situations in which we allow our emotions to affect how we perceive things in life. One minute you love someone and the next minute you think that they are the worst and you regret ever meeting them. In addition, these emotions cloud our judgment and we end up making conclusions that are not valid. In most cases, this occurs when there is a lot on our minds that we have to handle. The result is that we fail to deal with these emotions in an effective manner. Decluttering your mind requires that you get rid of negative thoughts that would lead to negative emotions. This belief was not as far-fetched as it may seem. The Stoics thought that all events are connected to each other via a universal web of cause-effect, just like modern scientists do. From this premise, it then stands to reason that it should be possible to predict (ie, divine) future events based on reasoned analysis of the present state of the cosmos. Modern physics works by the same logic, with the substantial difference that the Stoics were at least some of the time focusing on the wrong (because uninformative) causal connections, or considered to be causal some connections that were actually inert (with respect to predicting the future), such as animal entrails, for instance. Nothing of substance is lost for modern Stoics if we simply identify any untenable (by modern standards) bit of ancient Stoic metaphysics and either discard it or update it by using the best science available to us. Of course, modern Stoics and scientists such as myself readily acknowledge that our current knowledge too will eventually be replaced by even more advanced knowledge. As the history of Stoicism demonstrates, we have not reached the end point, and we probably never will. THEME 5: GOD OR ATOMS This is perhaps the most radical change I am proposing to Stoicism 1. For this reason, I must be clear on what exactly I am suggesting and why.
