And you can also welcome the get the job done aspects of anxiety when you need to take breaks from the floating and hazy aspects of confusion. Working with Anxiety and Confusion Together When confusiety is present, you may feel pulled in two directions that don't make sense: you may feel focus and motivation on one hand, yet a lack of focus or clear motivation on the other. This seemingly illogical pairing may increase your confusion and also increase your anxiety about your confusion! For instance, you may be preparing for a meeting or a trip, and while you know what you need to do, you may find yourself walking into a room and not knowing why you're there, putting things down in one place and not being able to find them again, or losing the entire thread of what you're doing. This can be frustrating, confusing, and anxiety provoking. If so, it may help to remember the third key to emotional genius: It is normal for emotions to work in pairs, groups, and clusters. In DEI, we learn how to welcome whichever emotions show up, and we work to understand how our multiple emotions might support each other (and us). I call confusion a masking state because it often arises to place a kind of soft blanket over the top of fear and anxiety. If there's too much input or too many changes for your fear to keep track of, your confusion may arise to slow everything down and stop you from taking action. It's your job to represent the powers that be. They depend on you to make the deals, broker the agreements, and get warring parties to return to the table when negotiations have broken down. No one is better at herding cats than you. You know how to pique interest, feign indifference, sweeten an offer, taunt, or make yourself scarce until everyone gets nervous and comes looking for you. And this playful quality makes you both engaging and a little suspect. People aren't always sure if you're playing for fun or playing for keeps. What makes a Gemini a Gemini is how companionable you are. You just show up when people need you. Whether you're on hand to help a customer find an item or walk a client through a bureaucratic maze of benefits and services, Geminis are the people who can get you from here to there. Geminis strike up friendships on the spot.
There is an astounding network of safety mechanisms in the brain that simply cannot be overridden. Attempting to do so does violence to the brain's interconnected, complex protective systems and throws off its homeostatic balance. The key is to work with the brain to heal and strengthen it. Naturally raising BDNF levels increases rates of neurogenesis and synaptogenesis and corrects the neurogenic sluggishness involved in cognitive decline, depression, and anxiety. In the words of the Greek physician Hippocrates, Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease. These new neural circuits will help to solidify these changes and protect against future emotional assaults. There are a number of nutrients that dramatically increase the rate of neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. A more comprehensive discussion of these can be found in my previous article, but this list includes nutrients newly discovered to be effective in the last few years. The Value of Supplements The depletion of the soil over the past century has drastically reduced the amount of nutrients in food. This makes it harder for them to focus on things close up and makes it necessary for us to buy reading glasses, which magnify type read at close range. What you want to avoid is traditional bifocals. The word alone conjures up images of blue-haired ladies sitting around a bingo table. But also, the visible line that separates the upper and lower parts of the lens deters people from looking at you, kid, and is a red flag of old age. Bifocals also tend to make the eyes look weirdly enormous, as if they were being seen through a magnifying glass. Progressive lenses, sometimes called invisible bifocals, solve these problems. Instead of starkly separating the top portion of the lenses (dedicated to seeing distances) from the bottom portion (designed for reading), progressive lenses transition between the two invisibly. In fact, you can get trifocals, in which the two are separated by a middle area for seeing intermediate distances. The drawback is that these lenses can require an adjustment period. Also, some trendy narrow frames may not offer enough room to accommodate all three portions.
Depending on the importance of the decision, you should set ample time to ensure you end up making sound decisions. Surround Yourself with the Right People At times, it is difficult to think positively if the people you surround yourself with frequently have negative thoughts. If you spend most of your time with people who are always worrying, then you can be sure that you will also find yourself worrying. On the contrary, if you surround yourself with people who always think positively, you will also be influenced to have this perception about your dreams and aspirations. Therefore, you can help stop overthinking by choosing to spend time with productive and positive people. They will help free your mind from worrying about what the future holds for you. With their positive energy, you will appreciate the importance of living in the present. Do Your Best When facing new challenges in life, it is a common thing to see most people worry about what they can and cannot do. All this was possible because she had released her repressed anger, making room for love. So many people tell me how much happier they are once they release anger toward another person. It is as though a huge burden has been lifted. Go within and know that there is an answer to your anger and that you will find it. It is very healing to meditate and visualize the rage flowing freely out of your body. Send love to the person who is the object of your anger and see your love dissolve whatever disharmony there is between you. Be willing to become harmonious. Perhaps the anger you feel is reminding you that you are not communicating well with others. By recognizing this, you can correct it. Let's affirm: It is okay to have my feelings.
Family and friends. It's complicated, but you might seriously consider letting go of the people who put you down and damage your self-confidence and self-esteem. Even spending less time with them or taking a temporary break can improve your self-esteem a lot, thanks to the decrease of negative input. While you are working on becoming a better person yourself, grow and develop, negative people might turn away from you, because you don't serve their purposes anymore. They need somebody who shares their negativity, and if you don't do that, they will look for somebody else. They will probably tell you that you have changed, that you are not like you used to be, and most of the time, they might even tell you that you've gone completely crazy. This might actually be a good sign. The most successful entrepreneurs have this in common. If spending less time with them or taking a temporary break doesn't work, you seriously need to ask yourself if you should stop seeing them completely. But that's a very private decision that only you can make. We live with a sea of stressors that our ancestors could never have anticipated and that our bodies did not evolve to handle. It is overwhelming our detoxification systems, which exist to clear as many toxins as possible but get taxed to the max dealing with chemicals, carcinogenic compounds, and even invisible electromagnetic frequencies. We are only just starting to understand the impact of chronic exposure to these unnatural stressors, but nobody is addressing how the individual elements interact with each other in our bodies. What integrative doctors do know is that chronic exposure to low-dose chemicals almost certainly plays a role in the development of autoimmune diseases, cancer, neurological diseases, fertility issues, ADHD, allergies, and more, and their slow buildup can be the reason for all kinds of nagging symptoms that we write off as the fatigue of modern life or inevitable effects of aging. Remove as many of the damaging influences as you can, replace them with simple alternatives, and start to give your body the conditions it needs to steadily do its work of keeping you well. If you begin with one step today and then another and so on, over time you will do a clean sweep. Audit Your Meds Since when did it become commonplace to walk away from doctors' visits with a prescription (or two, or three) in hand? The last two decades or so. Our fractured and overtaxed medical system has become focused on fixing symptoms as fast as possible using pharmaceutical medications--with barely a nod at the many side effects and frequent ineffectiveness of this strategy (which often doesn't resolve the actual underlying issues).
The risks and the dangers are the same. What changed? Your `why' changed, your reason for wanting to do it changed. When the reason is big enough and your why is strong enough, you will be willing to achieve your goal no matter what it takes. I am fortunate enough to have an amazing life. I have what I call a `non job' where my life and my job are one and the same. I have a healthy daughter whom I love more than anything in this world and an inner circle of friends and family who help me grow as a person. However, like everyone, there are days when `I just don't feel like it'. Even the most successful people in the world (note: success is subjective to each person) have days when they struggle. The only difference between them and everyone else is they use their `why' on those days. Starting off too hard, too fast too quickly. If you are unused to strenuous exercise, rapidly raising your heartrate while struggling to get enough oxygen into your system can cause you to feel light-headed and sick, so back off a bit tiger! Remember, there is absolutely nothing wrong with walking for as long as you need to at first - the goal is to get your 20 minute session under your belt and start building a habit, not to break the 4 minute mile. If you are feeling sick because of the brownies and milkshake you had 10 minutes earlier, then lesson learned! Sore feet, calves, knees, thighs, etc Some muscle soreness, especially in the thighs and calves are to be expected when you suddenly subject them to a level of exercise they are not used to. Called delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMS, it is the natural reaction of your muscles to unaccustomed or strenuous exercise, and is caused by small-scale damage (micro trauma) to the muscle fibres. The soreness peaks around 24 to 72 hours after running, so for the first two or three runs, you will have to put this down as the `rite of passage' I'm afraid. But take heart from the fact that the first two or three runs are likely to be the hardest you will ever do in terms of the shock to your muscles, so persevere and things will get a lot easier. However, if you are experiencing joint or tendon pain which does not subside after exercise and is made worse by subsequent running or walking, then you should definitely get it checked out by your doctor and put your training on hold until you have a diagnosis.
