The mind is an ancient mind - meaning that most of our thoughts are not ours. We do not often come up with any original thought, and yet, all too often, we puff up our ego in believing that we are brilliant in our new thoughts and ways. In this case, we are interested in the thoughts that are talking through our gene pool. Here are some tips to know if it is in fact your ancestors' thoughts: Layers and layers of life patterns and choices pile up on each other with each generation. An example might be addictive behavioral patterns, which include addictive thinking. Knowing the actions of a person from your lineage, particularly as they die, which determines what plane of consciousness that person now is on - and the part of their life that they are stuck acting out. We are here to help liberate them. Some family patterns we inherit are: The attachment to family/things/how things are done When our teenager was convinced last week that he wanted to give up pot, but now seems not so sure, it may seem intolerable. But ambivalence is normal, and learning to roll with it is the best way through. One of the great insights of the motivational therapies developed for substance problems has been just this: that ambivalence is integral to change, not an unfortunate feeling to be quashed or avoided, or a failure to get with the program. If using substances were like putting a hand on a hot stove, all downside and no upside, you wouldn't be reading this article, because your loved one wouldn't need help. There would be no ambivalence; But we're not dealing with burning-hot metal; I drink because it lets me relax with my friends; I am funnier when I'm tipsy; I lose weight with cocaine; I focus better for my SATs with lots of Adderall;
She asked him if she could help and he said yes, he would like a glass of water to drink. She turned around, tended to the adjacent table, asked at another table if everything was fine, taking her time to make her way to the kitchen. There she chatted for a few minutes before filling a glass with water and taking it back to the table. About two hours later the group of friends was laughing and in high spirits, mainly from the beers they'd had. They had their fill and were just sitting talking nonsense when the same guy wanted another glass of water before leaving. He waved a waitress to the table to take his order. When she arrived she had a big smile on her beautiful face, leaned towards him and asked how she could help. He asked her for a glass of water. I'll gladly get it for you, she said and turned around, her short skirt lifting a few inches and made a bee line for the kitchen. This guy said: Did you see that! A score of 3 indicates substantial difficulties carrying out these ordinary activities of daily life owing to accumulated clutter and hoarding problems. The primary use of this measure is to help professionals understand and sufferers realize which daily activities are most affected by the hoarding problem. By extension, the ADL-H can help guide treatment planning in order to focus on the areas that matter most to improve the person's ability to function. The ADL-H can also provide information about the person's degree of insight when the measure is completed by a professional rater and also self-rated. A discrepancy between their scores may indicate that the person who is hoarding underestimates the interference in daily activities. The ensuing discussion of different ratings and personal goals can be helpful in the intervention process. The ADL-H has been tested in two large studies of people with hoarding who were both clinically diagnosed and self-identified. It showed excellent reliability and validity, including distinguishing people with hoarding from those with other problems. The ADL-H can be found through an online search. Is my thinking problematic?
Or when your anxiety is overburdened by too many tasks or deadlines, your confusion may drape a gauzy blanket over you so that you can take a break and zone out. If you understand the support that confusion is trying to offer, you'll be able to reframe your response to it and relax. When you feel confusiety, please let yourself rest or zone out for a while if you can. There's an important reason for your confusion to be present; When I'm confused, I've learned to lie down and just laze about aimlessly. It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm grounded or not; Generally, after about three to five minutes of aimlessness, my confusion lifts, and I can get back to work in a different frame of mind, refreshed. You may know that sleep is healing for your brain (your brain repairs itself, strengthens your learning, and may prune intense emotions from your memories during restorative sleep), but you may not have heard that lazing around offers many of the same healing benefits. Taking aimlessness breaks throughout the day -- especially if you're in a high-demand situation at home or at work -- is a great way to support yourself and give your body and your brain a rest. Doing nothing actually does a lot to heal your body and your brain, but still, we tend to value productivity over rest. The friendships may not last forever, but then again they may not need to. You're the perfect person to get stranded at the airport with because not only will you figure out the next flight to get on--your fluency with apps and agents and the grace and ease with which you navigate them is unrivaled--but you'll also come up with something fun to do in the meantime. SUMMER SUN SIGNS THE SUN IN CANCER Summer is a lullaby season. Days are long, nights are short, and you can sleep outside beneath the stars if you like. Everything you could possibly want for is in reach. You can pluck fruit from the trees, pull vegetables out of the soil, or hook a fish while lazily dozing on the riverbank. Summertime is when the living is easy because Mother Nature is here to provide. And like an infant suckling at the breast, you can nestle peacefully knowing that you can eat, sleep, and poop with nary a worry in the world.
Pesticides that have killed beneficial bacteria in the soil that are needed for plants to absorb nutrients, topsoil erosion, soil depletion and other modern farming methods produces vegetables that lack the nutrients that were in them decades ago. Additionally, while it may be possible to get the minimum amount of nutrients to avoid disease through diet alone, it is not possible to obtain higher amounts of many nutrients that are needed for healing without concentrating certain factors through supplementation. Some people are prejudiced against supplementation. I would suggest openness to the thousands of studies that show supplements to be helpful. While conflicting studies often make headlines, the great majority of studies show the following nutrients are highly beneficial to brain function. This list is meant to be inclusive so you can pick and choose what fits for you. This list may seem daunting, so only take what seems right for you. Some people will begin with a few, others will want to jump in. You don't need to try to do everything. At the end of this article, I'll suggest an easy way to start. Progressive lenses cost anywhere from $180 to $325 (about $80 more than traditional bifocals), but the cost of saving your dignity? SHOPPING SMART FOR EYEWEAR By now, you no doubt have signed on to the idea of needing more than one pair of glasses, but before you refinance your mortgage to make it possible, check your insurance plan. Some acknowledge the fact that prescriptions change every year, particularly after age forty, and cover at least a portion of the cost of new glasses annually. The other avenue to investigate is your flexible spending account (FSA). Some insurance plans allow people to set aside pretax dollars for health care costs, including prescription eyeglasses. In some cases, the money must be used within a year (although some plans extend the time frame to fourteen months), or it is forfeited. Buying glasses is a great way to use any money left over in your FSA. And that's the reason for the rush on frames in February. Still another way to save money is to buy your frames and lenses separately when it makes sense.
Unfortunately, this worrying attitude prevents people from handling challenging situations effectively. When faced with difficult situations, it is imperative to focus on giving it your best without thinking too much as to whether you got it right or not. You never know, there are certain situations when the outcome is not as important as you thought. Create a To-Do List We can attest to the fact that there are instances when the mind tends to blow things out of proportion. Have you ever heard your inner voice try and convince you that you cannot complete a certain project within a specified period of time? Frankly, this happens many times where the mind jumps to the conclusion that you have more things to do than you actually do. The funny thing is that the mind will even go to the extent of giving you reasons why you cannot complete the project. To prevent this from happening, you should learn how to work using a to-do list. A to-do list keeps things organized. Today I express how I am feeling in positive ways. Your Day 11 Mirror Work Exercise Find a place with a mirror where you will feel safe and will not be disturbed. Look into your eyes in the mirror. If you are still uncomfortable doing this, then concentrate on your mouth or nose. See yourself and/or the person you believe has wronged you. Remember the moment when you became angry and let yourself feel the anger come through you. Begin to tell this person exactly what you are so angry about. Express all the anger you feel. Be specific.
