Spreading and Relaxing

Only clear these distractions in your mind and start the process again. Meditation is a popular relaxation and stress relief technique that can significantly raise your ability to focus and concentrate significantly. Focus is the capacity, at the cost of all others, to pay attention to one thing, which can be very tough in a society that stresses multitasking and performance. Improving the ability to concentrate will encourage innovation, cultivate problem-solving abilities, and reduce the tension associated with performing more than one job at a time. She also does a great job on the food and the price. But the acoustics are abominable. People can hardly hear themselves think, let alone have a conversation. The music is too loud, inappropriate in style, and plays nonstop without a single break. Evidently, it is what she likes; If you are the opposite, if you do not care so much about how the thing looks as long as it feels right, then you would do well to call in some people in your life who are primarily visual and ask them how it looks to them. We can tell how people process information by their language. People who say, I see what that means. How does this look to you? People who say, That doesn't feel good to me. You have outgrown the nest. It is no longer cozy; Going into the Gap The gap is the space between who you were and who you are becoming. Imagine yourself walking along uneventfully on a familiar pathway, when suddenly you notice the path ends up ahead. The trail just breaks off into thin air.

There's a fog bank shrouding the space ahead of you, and there's no way of telling what happened to the path. Getting closer, you can see beyond the fog in the distance where a somewhat higher trail continues on solid ground, but, amazingly, whatever's in the cloudbank before you hides everything between here and there. You are facing an mysterious gap. This is a bad case of discontinuity. Listen to your breathing. The point when you're meditating is to focus on one thing allow your other thoughts to pass by. That can be upsetting for anyone who has difficulty paying attention to just one thing (which includes most of us). Simply listening to your breathing is a simple way to get started. Sit down comfortably, so the physical pain doesn't distract you, then close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Breathe in and out from your nose, but try not to control the rate or depth of your breath elsewhere. Let them disappear as you refocus on listening to your breath as thoughts start to crowd in on your meditation. Feel like your throat flows down it. Feel the belly rising. As long as you can, stay here. That doesn't feel right, are obviously feeling people. Auditory people will say, That doesn't sound right to me. Just being aware of these cues will make the modes apparent to us. You want to make sure you cover the sensory modes that are not your forte. It does not take long, only an hour at most, with an expert in the field to convey the idea. One restaurant grew from failure to success primarily by changing the music in the background from loud, funky Western to soft baroque, which brought in high-paying and loyal customers.

People want to relax for dinner. They want to have tablecloths, cloth napkins, appropriate music, and the right lights. Bright fluorescent lights and primary colors may be great for a breakfast diner, but they will kill dinner business. Although the fast-food chains would seem to belie this obvious fact, people actually want dignity in their lives. You step forward to peer into the cloudy nothingness before you and notice what looks like wisps of thread peeking through the cloud cover here and there. You move even closer and see that they are ropes. It is a rope bridge! Connected to your end of the path, a suspended wooden pathway disappears on an incline, apparently connected to that higher section of rail further on. Deciding whether to step onto that flimsy looking bridge, in the hopes that it does connect up with the other side, is a matter of no small anxiety. Yet, at certain points in our lives, the growth urge is so strong and we are so sick of the old familiar path, that the wispy little bridge starts to look pretty appealing. We step out into the gap, hoping like crazy that it's attached to where we think we want to go. Of course you will have all kinds of dire thoughts when you are about to step out onto the bridge for the first time. Actually, your ego may get hysterical when you try the bridge for the first time. It will say whatever gives you the most gut-gripping anxiety and self-doubt. Step 2: Do not move Most individuals are confused. Sitting still a pretty foreign practice, but instead of being dominated by your ease, it can help you concentrate by placing you in control of your physical body. Sit as quietly as you can, but don't think about your breath being listened to. Close your eyes, and try to keep a single muscle from moving. You'll find yourself bombarded with itches, your hair ticking your face, and protesting joints.

Do not resort to anything unless you are feeling pain beyond normal discomfort. The focus needed to ignore your body and sit perfectly still will calm your mind and improve your ability over time to concentrate. Stage 3: Use a mantra Once you feel relaxed sitting still and can listen to your breathing without trouble for long periods of time, try to incorporate a mantra. They will reward you and appreciate you for supplying it or providing the means of achieving that state. Whatever you present, make sure it is featured in the best possible style, with regard for all the sensory modalities, and that it pleases as many of them as possible. It is well worth the extra trouble. Aside from the aforementioned sensory modalities, a high percentage of the populace rank comfort very high on their list. Potential customers walk out of stores for the simple fact that they could not find a chair to sit on. Many people think things over, and make up their minds about a purchase, only when they are sitting down. Customers appreciate this kind of caringness. STEP 5: ATTRACTION Rely on attraction rather than promotion. Keep in mind that promotion with aggressive, forceful marketing, advertising, and sales pitches is very outer-directed and takes time, money, and energy. The ego desperately wants to keep you off that bridge and back under its control. While your ego is howling its objections, you need to look at your growth map - which we'll cover in article 7 - and get a little reassurance to go on. Wouldn't you be more likely to keep on with your quest if you knew in advance that these gap points were likely, that sometimes a swaying suspension bridge is going to be the only route of travel? You'll be a whole lot less likely to get discouraged if you know about this in advance. Go ahead and test it out. If you don't like it, turn around and come back.

But resolve to take that step out of the past into your future. What is it like in the gap, once you've stepped onto the bridge of transition? Life in the Gap For one thing, although you know you are going in the right direction and the ropes are heading toward that higher trail ahead, after the first few steps into that fog, you cannot see where you are. A mantra is simply a syllable, word, or phrase repeated to help you concentrate. Repeat your mantra over and over during your meditation session. A simple one is the syllable ohm, which you say when each breath is exhaled. Thoughts will attempt to rush back into your mind when you inhale, and you will have to concentrate on keeping your mind still as you go into the sound. This will improve the capacity to focus on one item constantly, even with interruptions. Concentration to a flame of the candle Tratak helps you to focus on the flames of a candle. If performed in a dark room, this exercise will be more successful so that you can comfortably focus on the flame. This method of concentration meditation helps to enhance memory and attention or focus. The method of blocking your distracting thoughts is efficient. Attraction, on the other hand, takes no time, energy, effort, or money. Promotion comes from force. The rule of the universe is that force meets with counterforce. Persuasion meets with sales resistance. The more money you spend on promotion, the higher you are going to have to raise your market price. Hence, you will eventually create a price-resistance ceiling and narrow the gap between your product and that of your competitor.
