Think about the following: Rarely have you gone to a new home or shop with the deliberate intention of memorizing its characteristics? Yet, if you're thinking back to a friend's last home you visited, here's a fact: With visual memory, most individuals can remember an insane amount of information. Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over the alcohol--that our lives had become unmanageable. Step 2: Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Step 3: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. Step 4: Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. Step 5: Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. Step 6: Were entirely ready to have God remove all of these defects of character. Step 7: Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings. Step 8: Made a list of all the persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all. Step 9: Made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. Step 10: Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it. Developing Your Adult Destiny Despite Present Obstacles What Stands in You have an appointment with who you were meant to be, but many things can keep you from reaching that appointment on time. Ellen hated her tight-fitting life, but was too scared to make a move. Every time she wanted to try something new, she ran into an obstacle. Sometimes it was interference from her demanding husband.
Other times it was panic attacks. Ellen made plan after plan, only to give up when she suddenly and inexplicably felt scared, guilty, or exhausted. For a long time Ellen seesawed between dreams and disappointments. She reversed this frustrating pattern only when she began to understand how her overactive empathy and fear of being alone were holding her back in a way that mere outside obstacles could never do. You can exercise that inherent skill by building a Memory Palace. You can also use it for memory and learning stunts, such as memorizing all of Canada's Prime Ministers. Second, the construction of a Memory Palace is the creation of a tool that you can use for life. You can build hundreds more once you have one, and you've mastered using it. And if you can do that, then with your memory, you can do amazing stuff, like how Matteo learned Chinese in record time. You can also quickly recall event names and achieve any memory-related aim. And what goal does memory not involve? You've probably learned bilingualism is good for your brain, have you? It is, and one of the major cause why is that you constantly ask your brain to remember details. Take benefits of the neuroplasticity of your brain and learn a new skill to keep it working and ticking at any age! Step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our consciousness contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. Step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs. The 1st step of the 12-step program is the willingness to admit the truth that one is powerless over alcohol or drugs and that alcohol or drugs are making one's life unmanageable. The 2nd step, then, becomes very significant in that the restoring us to sanity is by a power greater than oneself. Thereby does the ego surrender to God (the small ego self surrenders to the power of the Higher Self). We look on the Map and see that the higher energy fields of Love, Joy, and Peace start at about 500 and run all the way up to 600.
Those energy fields are like a powerful electromagnet pulling the person back into wanting to reexperience those high states within consciousness. The drug or alcohol gave them a temporary experience of those higher energies. Therefore, in order for them to handle it, something with equal power to the drug or alcohol experience will be needed to replace it. The group energy field of AA (cal. Despite her trepidation, Ellen's dream of having her own career excited her. After being a homemaker for years, she plotted her escape into the world of paychecks and job titles. However, too often Ellen acted as though her dreams were unattainable. Motivation and self-doubt wrestled within her. Some days she was exhilarated and other days it all felt impossible. Finally she decided that no matter what, she was going to pursue the job she wanted. One thing after another blocked her way, as though mocking her new resolve. Ellen's husband expected her to accompany him on a business trip to the West Coast just when she was scheduled for group aptitude testing for a new position. Her mother cautioned her against taking on too much. Her daughter began to have marital problems. For individuals of any generation, this is a perfect brain exercise because it keeps you interacting with people. For improved mental well-being, daily communication often helps to promote the development of safe chemicals. And singing has been shown to improve cortisol and other chemicals involved in healing, for a double-whammy of health and brain benefits. For this reason, the impact and efficacy of this brain exercise can be enhanced by singing a foreign language you're learning. That's not everything, though. You get more health advantages.
Researchers performed a study that found that learning another language could delay the onset of cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease by around 4-5 years, such as dementia! It is good for your brain to learn something new! If it's learning to play a new musical instrument or practicing with your non-dominant side, it will build new neural pathways that will help you improve your brain capacity. It's not a secret Tony mind mapping approach. In fact, some people in recovery refer to their AA group as their Higher Power (for example, GOD stands for Group of Drunks). The 2nd step is really the intuitive knowing that something greater than the ego or the limited small self is going to be needed to handle the attraction of such a powerful energy field. The 3rd step is the decision that comes out of that, which is the surrendering and willingness to turn one's life over to God, as one understands Him. Out of willingness itself, the God of one's own understanding is already a friend--a promising, merciful, and responsive God. The willingness to be trusting sources the element of faith, so the 3rd step of deep surrender really moves one into alignment with the energy field of 540 and above. The rest of the Twelve Steps now make sense from the viewpoint of the levels of consciousness. When a person aligns with the powerful attractor field of 540, the ABC of Unconditional Love, then healing on the external level of ABC is inevitable over time. The 4th step says to honestly look within oneself to discover any defects of character and to take a fearless moral inventory, which entails the willingness to look at and own all that was negative in one's life and the impact it had. Then follows the 5th step, a very healing step by which to admit to oneself, to God, and to another human being the exact nature of one's wrongs. Those who make this step relieve the impact of pain on themselves by trusting their deepest secrets with another person, such as a 12-step sponsor. Her cat got sick. She asked herself, How am I supposed to do anything for myself with all this going on? Ellen's mind, which had embraced hope for a new future, was now cluttered with worries about other people and even animals. Ellen slumped back into her well-worn role of worrying about others. However, despite this detour, Ellen had started on her way. She had begun to progress along a route with an appointed destination, even if it seemed that she kept breaking down by the side of the road.
Her dissatisfaction with her present life kept spurring her on. It seemed such a small thing, getting a new job, but for Ellen, it was about who she was meant to be: an independent adult with an income of her own. Like Ellen, you have an appointment with who you were meant to be. Many things can keep you from reaching that appointment on time. Map the mind in ways that weren't at all accurate. But you can find a new route after practicing with Tony and world mind mapping champion Phil Chambers. Why is mind mapping excellent for cognitive function enhancement? One explanation is that the function of nerve cells on the paper is effectively replicated by you. Much as a brain cell has a central nucleus that flows outward like a river with synapses, the mind map has a central concept that feeds mental power to many streams. You're making it simpler for your brain by building these mind maps, thereby increasing its processing speed. Whenever you want a cognitive training exercise, give these ten mind mapping rules a try. Aerobic exercise and physical activity. But not just for your muscles to work out and increase your heart rate. A perfect place for mental exercise is physical activity. What they had been ashamed of loses its voltage when they speak it out loud. A person can suffer for 20 years over a single incident, their self-esteem destroyed, and then when it is shared, it becomes a so what. Sharing it changes the energy field by removing the negative charge from it. Taking off the negativity has not changed the history, but the way it is held has changed, making inoperative that which previously had the capacity to corrode and destroy. Bill Wilson, the co-founder of AA, used to say that the correct attitude about the past is a decent regret, which is quite different from self-hatred, shame, or wallowing in guilt. Instead, one then comes from the heart.
